Italy’s governing body for fashion, the National Chamber of Italian Fashion (CNMI), has unveiled the provisional schedule for the upcoming Milan Women’s Fashion Week, which will run from September 22 to 28. As ever, the event- dedicated to the Spring/Summer 2027 collections- is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the ICE Agency, and the City of Milan. It is currently set to feature 60 fashion shows- 54 physical and six digital- although some allocated slots remain unnamed.

Alongside the debut of Moschino’s creative directors, Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo, the September 2026 Milan Fashion Week will take on a distinctly Portuguese flavour, with Marques’Almeida- founded in 2011 by Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida and a former LVMH Prize winner- and Miguel Vieira, launched in 1988 by the eponymous designer, both showing for the first time.

Also debuting are Victor-Hart, recipient of the Max&Co. Design for Change award at the 2024 Camera Moda Fashion Trust Grant, and Neithan Herbert, a Mexican brand founded by Ecuadorian designer Neithan Ruiz. On the final day, reserved for digital-only shows, the schedule will for the first time include Banke Kuku, a British-Nigerian brand founded in 2011; Timisola Shasanya, a Nigerian craft label established in France in 2025; and Mastewal Alemu, an Ethiopian label based in Addis Ababa and founded in 2021.

Notably, on September 22, Vogue World: Milan will take place- an event dedicated to the theme ‘The Human Touch in the Age of Technology’ that celebrates creativity by spotlighting Italian craftsmanship, human capital, and the fruitful dialogue between tradition and innovation. On the same day, CNMI will inaugurate the CNMI Fashion Hub at Palazzo Morando. On September 27, the twelfth edition of Milano Moda Graduate- the runway show dedicated to students from Italian fashion schools- will be held.

In the meantime, the National Chamber of Italian Fashion has revealed that from 2027 the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards will evolve into the CNMI Creative and Sustainable Fashion Awards. The ceremony will take place during Milan Fashion Week in September 2027, once again at La Scala. The aim is to celebrate and promote- on an equal footing- creativity and sustainability as foundational values for fashion’s future, recognising individuals, companies, and projects distinguished by their vision, innovation and capacity to generate a positive impact on the industry and society.

For the September 2026 edition of Milan Fashion Week, CNMI will stage an opening gala dinner on September 23 at Palazzo Reale. The event will coincide with the opening of the exhibition ‘Dalí and Fashion,’ promoted by the City of Milan- Culture and produced by Palazzo Reale, MondoMostre, and Civita Mostre e Musei, in collaboration with the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí.
