The Winter Session of Parliament, beginning on 1 December and continuing till 19 December, is expected to face intense disruption as the Opposition has decided not to allow any business until a detailed discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is held. Congress has already moved a suspension notice in the Lok Sabha, demanding immediate debate, while TMC and the Samajwadi Party have extended full support. The government, however, plans to introduce 14 bills, including 10 new ones, and argues that SIR is under the exclusive purview of the Election Commission. Opposition parties are aggressively linking the SIR process to the recent deaths and suicides of BLOs, claiming excessive workload and pressure. They accuse the government of undermining democracy and the electoral process. BJP, on the other hand, accuses Congress and TMC of deliberately creating obstruction for political gain. With both sides firm on their positions, a stormy Winter Session appears inevitable.
