West Bengal Politics: Kalyan Banerjee’s Open Revolt Against Abhishek Deepens TMC Crisis

Fresh signs of internal turmoil have emerged within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) as senior party leader and MP Kalyan Banerjee launched a sharp attack on Abhishek Banerjee, accusing him of arrogance and holding him responsible for the party’s declining fortunes. Speaking publicly, Kalyan Banerjee expressed frustration over Abhishek Banerjee’s leadership style, alleging that his behavior had alienated party leaders and weakened the organization. The veteran MP suggested that TMC chief Mamata Banerjee must now decide whether the party will continue under Abhishek’s influence or accommodate dissenting voices within the organization. The remarks come at a time when the party is already facing growing speculation about internal divisions, leadership challenges, and possible defections. Kalyan Banerjee’s comments are being viewed as one of the strongest public criticisms of Abhishek Banerjee from within the party ranks. Adding to the pressure, former TMC spokesperson Riju Dutta also intensified his attack on the party leadership. Dutta questioned the funding behind TMC’s election campaigns, raising concerns about the use of helicopters, chartered flights, and large-scale campaign expenditures. He demanded scrutiny into the sources of financial support for these activities and claimed that more Rajya Sabha members could resign in the coming days. The twin attacks from Kalyan Banerjee and Riju Dutta have fueled speculation about widening cracks within the TMC. Political observers believe the developments could significantly impact the party’s organizational unity and future strategy in West Bengal. With dissent now surfacing openly, all eyes are on Mamata Banerjee and her next move as she attempts to contain the growing unrest within the party and prevent further erosion of support.
