India is witnessing contrasting weather conditions, with intense heat prevailing across parts of northern India while heavy monsoon rains continue to batter western, central and northeastern regions. Mumbai has been severely affected by persistent rainfall, causing widespread waterlogging, traffic disruptions and flooding in low-lying areas. The Andheri subway remains submerged with water levels crossing four feet, forcing authorities to suspend vehicular movement due to safety concerns. Heavy rain has also inundated areas such as Virar, while rough sea conditions and high waves have prompted warnings for people to stay away from the coastline near Marine Drive and Worli. In Thane, nearly 98 mm of rainfall has been recorded, with rising water levels in drains increasing the risk of flooding, especially during high tide. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next four days and urged residents to venture outdoors only if necessary. Questions have again been raised over civic preparedness and drainage maintenance as recurring monsoon flooding continues to disrupt normal life.
