Weather Alert: Triple Attack of Fog, Cold and Pollution Disrupts Life Across Delhi NCR, Visibility Drops to Zero

Delhi NCR continues to reel under a severe triple attack of dense fog, biting cold, and hazardous air pollution, causing major disruption to daily life. Several areas across the national capital witnessed near-zero visibility for the second consecutive day, severely impacting road, rail, and air traffic. Due to thick fog, multiple flights were delayed, while several trains arriving in Delhi also ran behind schedule. Early morning commuters faced extreme difficulty as visibility dropped drastically, forcing motorists to use fog lights and parking lights to navigate roads. Thick fog and smog engulfed key areas including Barapulla Flyover, Sarai Kale Khan, DND Flyover, Janpath, ITO, Akshardham, AIIMS, and other major locations. The situation has been worsened by soaring pollution levels, with AQI crossing 400 in many parts of Delhi NCR, placing air quality in the ‘severe’ category. In response, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has imposed GRAP Stage IV restrictions across Delhi. The India Meteorological Department has issued an alert, predicting moderate to dense fog conditions to persist for the next four to five days. Authorities have urged people to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and strictly follow safety advisories to prevent accidents amid poor visibility and harsh weather conditions.
