Weather alert: Kedarnath Yatra Suspended as Severe Weather Hits Uttarakhand

Bad weather conditions in Uttarakhand have forced authorities to temporarily suspend the Kedarnath Yatra. The decision was taken after continuous rainfall, snowfall, and deteriorating weather conditions in the region. According to officials, three pilgrims lost their lives during the pilgrimage on Saturday. In view of the safety risks, pilgrims have been instructed to stay at secure locations and not proceed toward the shrine until further notice. The suspension comes after the weather department issued an Orange Alert for the region. The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in Rudraprayag has stated that the pilgrimage will resume only after weather conditions improve and official clearance is received from the meteorological department. Visuals from the area showed heavy snowfall, rain, and poor visibility, creating difficult travel conditions on the pilgrimage route. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have deployed teams to assist stranded pilgrims if required. The sudden change in weather comes just days after intense heatwave conditions were reported across several parts of northern India. The sharp shift from extreme heat to severe weather has disrupted travel and raised safety concerns in the Himalayan region.
