Uttarakhand News: Uttarakhand Government Bans Mobile Phones and Cameras at Char Dham Shrines

In a major decision concerning the Char Dham Yatra, the Uttarakhand government has imposed a ban on carrying mobile phones and cameras at the four sacred shrines—Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. According to the new guidelines, devotees will not be allowed to take mobile phones or cameras beyond the Singhdwar at Badrinath Dham. Similarly, at Kedarnath Dham, operating cameras or recording videos on the main platform will be strictly prohibited. The ban also applies to Gangotri and Yamunotri, where pilgrims will no longer be permitted to carry mobile phones inside temple premises. The decision comes after several videos and reels shot at these holy sites went viral on social media, often leading to controversy and disruption of religious decorum. The government stated that the move aims to preserve the sanctity, discipline, and spiritual atmosphere of the Char Dham shrines.
