Update: JMM Seeks 12 Seats, Leaders To Meet Tejashwi Yadav Over Bihar Seat Sharing

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has demanded 12 assembly seats in the upcoming Bihar elections and is sending senior leaders to meet RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav to negotiate seat allocation. The meeting is scheduled to discuss JMM’s role in the Mahagathbandhan and the constituencies it hopes to contest. This reflects JMM’s intent to secure a significant presence in the alliance despite earlier proposals suggesting only 1–2 seats for the party. The developments come as both major coalitions in Bihar finalize seat-sharing formulas following the announcement of two-phase polling. Negotiations are balancing the claims of larger parties with the ambitions of smaller allies, leading to complex discussions in the Mahagathbandhan. JMM’s demand has added pressure, as it seeks a “respectable” share to maintain its political influence. Both the Mahagathbandhan and NDA are reportedly considering multiple formulas to accommodate regional partners while protecting their core constituencies. Final seat allocations are expected to be decided by the central leadership after these discussions. The outcome of these negotiations will play a key role in shaping the electoral strategies of all alliances ahead of the November elections.
