UP News: Drunk Driving, Fatal Road Mishaps and Bulldozer Action Highlight Rising Lawlessness

A series of disturbing incidents from Uttar Pradesh have once again raised serious concerns over public safety, reckless behaviour, and law enforcement action. In one alarming case, a drunken two-wheeler rider was seen swerving dangerously across the road—sometimes veering onto the footpath, narrowly missing trees and oncoming vehicles. The intoxicated rider posed a severe risk not only to himself but also to others on the road. Eventually, a husband and wife were rushed directly to the hospital following the incident. In another shocking road accident, a dashcam video captured a truck driver’s fatal manoeuvre. Despite indicating right, the truck suddenly braked at a crossing and then abruptly turned left, crushing a bike-riding couple alongside the vehicle. The injured husband and wife were admitted to hospital in critical condition. The footage has sparked outrage and renewed debate over road discipline and accountability. Meanwhile, a separate crackdown unfolded in Salimpur Salar village, where the local administration carried out bulldozer action against an illegal religious structure. Two bulldozers were deployed to demolish an unauthorised shrine built on land originally allotted in 2000 for housing poor families. Authorities allege illegal encroachment in 2005. A fine of ₹878 has been imposed on the mosque committee. The incidents together reflect growing administrative strictness amid rising civic violations.
