A major controversy erupted in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr during Eid prayers after a heated argument broke out between police officials and Samajwadi Party leaders outside an Eidgah in Jahangirabad. The tense exchange reportedly began when police personnel stopped people from offering namaz outside the Eidgah premises due to overcrowding inside the mosque area. Former MLA Chaudhary Hoshiyar Singh was seen arguing with the Circle Officer (CO) during the incident. According to eyewitnesses, the police insisted that the Eidgah had already reached full capacity and additional worshippers could not be allowed outside the designated area. However, SP leaders objected to the restriction, leading to a verbal confrontation on the spot. Videos from the scene quickly surfaced online, showing the officer repeatedly folding his hands and requesting people to cooperate and disperse peacefully. Despite the appeals, the argument continued for several minutes, drawing a large crowd and creating tension in the area. The exchange also included sharp remarks regarding administrative pressure and policing during religious gatherings. Police officials maintained that the measures were taken only for crowd management and public safety. Authorities were trying to prevent congestion and maintain law and order during the Eid prayers, which witnessed heavy turnout this year. The situation was eventually brought under control, and no injuries or major violence were reported. However, the incident has triggered political reactions, with opposition leaders questioning the administration’s handling of religious gatherings while police defended their actions as necessary security measures.
