A deadly industrial accident struck the Shekhpura industrial area in Saranpur when a boiler at a newly inaugurated tyre factory exploded during welding operations, killing two labourers on the spot and injuring five others. The factory had been formally opened on October 19, and officials said the blast occurred while welders were performing routine maintenance or installation work on the boiler.Local emergency services, including the fire brigade and police, responded promptly. Firefighters brought the blaze under control and rescue teams evacuated the injured to nearby hospitals; three were reported to be in serious condition at the time of reporting. Senior district officials visited the site to oversee relief and the initial stages of the inquiry.Authorities have registered an accidental death case and launched a formal investigation to determine the cause of the boiler rupture, focusing on possible lapses in safety protocols, equipment standards, or welding procedures. Factory records, maintenance logs, and staff testimonies are being collected as part of the probe. Labour and safety inspectors are expected to inspect the premises and can recommend sanctions if negligence or regulatory violations are established. The district administration has appealed for calm and promised assistance to the victims’ families while urging industrial units to review safety measures to prevent similar tragedies.
