The investigation into the death of Twisha Sharma in Bhopal has reached a critical stage as the five-day CBI remand of her husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, Girbala Singh, comes to an end. The agency is expected to present both accused before the court and may seek an extension of their custody for further questioning. As part of its probe, the CBI recreated the crime scene at Twisha’s residence using an 80-kilogram dummy matching her approximate height and weight. Forensic experts and investigators examined whether the sequence of events described by the accused was physically possible and consistent with the evidence. Samarth Singh was asked to demonstrate how the belt allegedly used in the hanging was tied and how Twisha was brought down from the noose. Girbala Singh was also questioned regarding her claim that she untied the knot. The reconstruction focused on the events of May 12 and aimed to verify the statements given by both accused. The CBI is trying to determine whether Twisha Sharma’s death was a suicide or a planned murder, as alleged by her family.
