Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that during the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly explained the benefits of the India–US trade deal and addressed the concerns raised by the opposition. Athawale stated that the trade deal is aimed at strengthening India’s economy, benefiting farmers, generating employment, and boosting overall development, not harming farmers as claimed by the opposition. He dismissed fears about costly oil imports and agricultural losses, assuring that the government will ensure oil prices do not rise and farmers’ interests remain protected. According to the government, the long-running tariff dispute between India and the US has ended, with the US reducing tariffs on Indian goods from 50 percent to 18 percent. This reduction puts India in a stronger position compared to several Asian countries facing higher US tariffs. The deal is expected to significantly boost India’s manufacturing sector, trade, and exports. The positive impact was immediately reflected in the stock market, which reacted strongly to the news. Prime Minister Modi emphasized that India’s patience and strategic diplomacy led to this outcome, calling it a win-win situation that could further accelerate India’s economic growth and strengthen India–US relations.
