After Sonam Wangchuk ended his hunger strike, attention shifted to the impact on the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar. Abhijeet Deep K, spokesperson of CJP, welcomed Wangchuk’s decision, saying it brought relief because his life is valuable to the nation. However, he made it clear that the CJP-led protest would continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. According to him, Wangchuk’s 26-day sacrifice and the alleged police brutality against students in Delhi should not go in vain. The protesters remain committed to pursuing accountability for the issues raised by students. The development has also intensified political debate. BJP leaders argued that Wangchuk’s decision reflects trust in the Modi government’s sensitivity and responsible approach, claiming it validates the government’s actions and commitment to addressing concerns. In contrast, the Aam Aadmi Party questioned the government’s handling of the movement. It criticized the Centre for not allowing a delegation of 55 MPs to meet the Prime Minister earlier, while ministers later met Wangchuk out of concern for his health, leaving unresolved the broader issues affecting millions of students nationwide.
