Special Report: Punjab Battles Flood Fury As 1900 Villages Submerged, Army Leads Relief Near Border

Punjab continues to reel under the devastating impact of floods, with nearly 1,900 villages still submerged under water. The overflowing Sutlej River has advanced up to four kilometers inland, leaving thousands of families homeless from Amritsar to the Pakistan border. Entire regions remain waterlogged, forcing residents to seek refuge in schools and temporary shelters. On the Fazilka border, Army boats are the only lifeline for stranded families. From food and medicines to other essential supplies, everything is being delivered under the supervision of Army personnel. ABP News reporting teams accompanied the soldiers to Teja Rohela, a village located right along the border, where the floodwaters have cut off all road access. Drone and 360-degree visuals show nothing but endless stretches of water on both the Indian and Pakistani sides. In Ludhiana, villagers are filling sacks with sand to create temporary barriers in hopes of protecting their fields. Meanwhile, in Amritsar’s Ramdas area, displaced families have taken shelter in a flooded school building for more than ten days, their homes lying under water or caked with thick layers of mud left behind as the water receded.Despite the hardship, Punjab’s resilient spirit shines through, as people continue to fight the calamity with determination.
