Amid this ongoing Special Intensive Revision process which was being conducted across several Indian states, the growing concern has emerged over the increasing reports of BLO dying by suicide. One such case surfaced from Moradabad Uttar Pradesh, where BLO named Sarvesh Singh ended his life recording a suicide video and writing a suicide note. In his suicide video, Sarvesh expressed his helplessness regarding the heavy workload and the constant pressure associated with BLO duties. He apologized to the authorities, saying he felt incapable of fulfilling the responsibilities assigned to him. Sarvesh revealed that he had not slept for nearly 20 days due to the excessive workload and stated that the stress had pushed him toward taking this extreme step. He also apologized emotionally to his mother, sister, and wife, adding that he had four daughters and requested that they be taken care of. According to Sources, DM Anuj Kumar Singh later stated that Sarvesh Singh has already completed around 67 percent of his assigned work, and although many are linking his death to the SIR workload but the exact reason behind his death is not confirmed by the authorities as investigations is still underway. Meanwhile similar incident was reported from Bijnor Uttar Pradesh, where another BLO Shobha rani passed away due to heart attack. Speaking to reporters his husband claimed that the extreme work pressure related to the SIR duties had deteriorated her health. His husband demanded compensation for his wife’s death, claiming that the workload contributed directly to her condition.
