Ram Temple Donation Theft: Ayodhya Lawyers Seek CBI Probe, File Complaint Against Champat Rai, Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao

The controversy surrounding the alleged Ram Temple donation theft has intensified, with local lawyers in Ayodhya formally approaching the police and demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case. The complaint has been submitted at the Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station, where advocates have sought the registration of a criminal case against senior Trust-linked figures, including Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, and Gopal Rao. According to the lawyers, the alleged theft of devotees’ offerings has deeply hurt religious sentiments and damaged the reputation of Ayodhya, one of Hinduism’s most sacred pilgrimage sites. They argued that a fair and impartial investigation by the CBI is necessary to uncover the complete truth behind the alleged financial irregularities. The advocates alleged that individuals holding key positions within the Ram Temple Trust could not have been unaware of the alleged misappropriation of donations. They claimed that such an incident could not have occurred without serious negligence or the involvement of those responsible for overseeing the temple’s administration. These allegations remain claims made by the complainants, and no official findings have established criminal liability against the individuals named. Bar Association representatives were present while submitting the complaint and urged authorities to initiate legal proceedings in accordance with the law. Police officials acknowledged receiving the complaint and stated that action would be taken as per the applicable legal process. The demand for a CBI investigation comes as the police and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) continue their ongoing probe into the alleged donation theft, in which multiple arrests have already been made. The latest legal move is expected to add further pressure as the high-profile investigation continues.
