Rajasthan News: Hijab Row Erupts at Kota Centre, Student Alleges Entry Denied

A controversy erupted in Kota, Rajasthan, during the second day of the Level-2 Teacher Recruitment Examination over the issue of hijab. A Muslim candidate, Alisha from Bundi district, alleged that she was denied entry into the examination hall solely because she was wearing a hijab. The exam was scheduled at Tilak Senior Secondary School in Mahavir Nagar Extension, Kota. According to the student, despite completing document verification and reaching the centre on time, she was stopped at the gate citing the dress code. She claimed that repeated requests were made, but she was not allowed to appear for the examination, for which she had been preparing for over a year. A video of the student appealing to the Rajasthan Chief Minister has since gone viral on social media. The administration, however, has rejected the allegations. Officials stated that the candidate wanted to appear for the exam with her face fully covered, which was against examination guidelines. She was asked to remove the face covering, but allegedly refused, following which entry was denied. While the examination across Rajasthan concluded peacefully, the Kota incident has sparked a fresh debate over dress code, religious attire, and exam regulations.
