Protest Outside Delhi HC in Unnao Rape Case, Victim Seeks Justice as Bail to Accused Sparks Outrage

A protest was held outside the Delhi High Court on Friday in connection with the Unnao rape case, as demonstrators demanded justice for the survivor and raised serious concerns over the legal relief granted to the accused. The protest took place after the victim reportedly failed to receive any fresh relief from the High Court, intensifying public anger and frustration. Several social activists, women’s rights groups, and members of civil society joined the demonstration in support of the survivor. Protesters carried placards and raised slogans, calling for strict action against the accused and questioning the judicial process that led to the accused being granted bail. They argued that the bail decision sends a wrong message and undermines the survivor’s fight for justice. Activists alleged that the survivor continues to face emotional and social pressure, while the accused remains free, raising concerns about her safety. They urged authorities to ensure speedy justice, adequate protection for the victim, and a fair trial without any external influence. The case has once again reignited a nationwide debate on crimes against women, the treatment of rape survivors within the legal system, and the criteria for granting bail in serious offences. Authorities have not yet issued a fresh statement on the protest, while the matter remains under judicial consideration.
