Political activity has intensified in West Bengal as Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata for a series of high-level meetings following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s reported electoral victory in the state. According to party sources, Amit Shah’s convoy reached a city hotel where the BJP core group meeting is scheduled before the formal legislative party session. The meeting is expected to play a crucial role in finalizing the party’s strategy for government formation and the selection of the next Chief Minister. Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari was reportedly seen accompanying Amit Shah during parts of the journey, indicating his active involvement in the internal discussions. Party insiders suggest that other senior leaders may also participate in the core group deliberations. The core group meeting is expected to focus on finalizing the proposal for the legislative party leader, which will later be presented before all newly elected BJP MLAs for formal approval. The decision from this process will determine the Chief Ministerial candidate for the state. Following the core group discussion, Amit Shah is expected to proceed to the venue of the legislative party meeting, which will be held at the designated convention center in Kolkata. The outcome of that meeting is anticipated to be announced later in the day or evening. Security arrangements across key locations in Kolkata have been tightened as senior national and state leaders converge for the political process. The developments mark a critical stage in the formation of the new government in West Bengal.
