Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Pongal Mahotsav on the invitation of Union Minister of State L. Murugan and extended heartfelt greetings to the people of the country on the auspicious occasion of Pongal. During the event, the Prime Minister also performed Go-Seva, highlighting the traditional and cultural significance associated with the harvest festival. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi described Pongal as a magnificent symbol of Tamil culture and Sanskriti, emphasizing that the festival reflects India’s deep-rooted values of gratitude toward nature, farmers, and livestock. He noted that Pongal, once celebrated primarily in Tamil Nadu, has now emerged as a global festival, observed by the Tamil diaspora across the world. The Prime Minister underlined that festivals like Pongal strengthen cultural unity and promote India’s heritage on the global stage. He praised the role of farmers in nation-building and reiterated the government’s commitment to their welfare. The event witnessed vibrant cultural performances and traditional rituals, showcasing the richness of Tamil traditions.
