Politics: AIMIM Pushes for Dalit–Muslim Alliance, Holds Talks with BSP in Uttar Pradesh

Political activity in Uttar Pradesh is gaining momentum with fresh speculation around the formation of a third front ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has openly indicated efforts to forge an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). AIMIM’s Uttar Pradesh president, Shaukat Ali, stated that talks are underway and the party is working towards building a Dalit–Muslim political alliance in the state. Highlighting AIMIM’s growing footprint beyond its traditional base, Shaukat Ali pointed out that the party has delivered notable performances in Bihar, Maharashtra’s local body elections, and is actively strengthening its presence in West Bengal through alliances, including discussions with leaders like Humayun Kabir. Riding on this momentum, AIMIM is now turning its focus to Uttar Pradesh, where it sees scope for a new political equation. The proposed Dalit–Muslim coalition is being projected as an alternative political force, potentially challenging the existing dominance of major parties in the state. While no formal alliance has been announced yet, the statement signals AIMIM’s intent to expand aggressively and reshape opposition politics in Uttar Pradesh. Political observers believe such a move could significantly impact electoral arithmetic in the 2027 polls if talks with BSP materialize
