POLITICAL STORM: Assam Police Reaches Pawan Khera’s Home Over Allegations on CM’s Wife Row

A fresh political controversy has erupted after a team of Assam Police arrived at the residence of Pawan Khera in Delhi for questioning. The move follows an FIR filed in Assam based on allegations made by Khera against the wife of Himanta Biswa Sarma. Khera had publicly claimed that Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, possessed multiple foreign passports, including those from Muslim-majority countries, and raised questions about possible dual citizenship. These claims sparked a major political row, prompting Riniki Bhuyan Sarma to file a complaint with the Assam Crime Branch, alleging that the accusations were false and based on fabricated or manipulated documents. According to initial reports, a small team of Assam Police officials, accompanied by Delhi Police, reached Khera’s residence in Nizamuddin East to record his statement. It remains unclear whether Khera was present at the time or whether any arrest warrant has been issued. Officials suggest that the current action is part of the standard investigative procedure following the registration of an FIR, where statements of the accused are recorded before further legal steps are taken. The incident has intensified the political atmosphere, with both the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party likely to escalate the confrontation. The case now adds another layer to the ongoing war of words between opposition leaders and ruling party figures ahead of key political developments.
