Breaking News: Rekha Gupta unveils colony regularisation push, TOD boost plan

In a major announcement, Rekha Gupta revealed that 1,511 unauthorized colonies in Delhi will be brought under full authorization, marking a significant step toward legal recognition and improved urban infrastructure. The move aims to provide long-awaited relief to residents by granting official status and enabling access to essential civic services. Under the plan, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will issue regularisation certificates, while the Delhi government’s revenue department will provide conveyance deeds and authorization slips. Residents will be able to apply online through a dedicated portal starting April 24, 2026, ensuring a streamlined and transparent process. Additionally, the government highlighted its Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) policy, designed to promote affordable housing and sustainable urban growth. The policy focuses on developing high-density, mixed-use zones around key public transport systems such as the Delhi Metro and Regional Rapid Transit System. This approach is expected to optimize land use, improve connectivity, and enhance overall urban living standards. The announcement also acknowledged the support of Manohar Lal Khattar and Narendra Modi, emphasizing coordinated efforts between local and central leadership. This initiative is being seen as a transformative step for Delhi’s urban landscape, benefiting millions of residents and paving the way for more planned and inclusive city development.
