Political Row: CM Yogi compares opposition behavior in Parliament to disruption and chaos

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in a press conference, strongly defended the Women’s Reservation Bill and criticized the opposition INDIA bloc for its alleged disruptive behavior in Parliament. He said the opposition, including Congress, Samajwadi Party, TMC, and DMK, acted in a manner that undermined women’s empowerment efforts led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted that the “Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam” was designed to ensure 33% reservation for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies without reducing anyone’s existing rights. According to him, the government also assured that delimitation and future census data would be used to maintain fair representation across all regions. Yogi Adityanath accused the opposition of spreading confusion and obstructing progressive reforms. He compared their behavior in Parliament to disruptive and irresponsible conduct, claiming they attempted to divide the bill along communal lines, including raising questions about Muslim women’s representation. He further argued that the opposition has historically opposed key women-centric reforms such as the abolition of triple talaq and the Shah Bano case intervention. He contrasted this with BJP’s welfare initiatives like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, maternal welfare schemes, and Uttar Pradesh’s Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which supports girls from birth to higher education.
