Political Flash: TMC Refuses to Sign No-Confidence Motion Against Lok Sabha Speaker

A major political development has emerged regarding the proposed no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker. Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Mamata Banerjee, has decided not to sign the no-confidence motion at this stage. TMC leaders argue that the opposition acted in haste and that the Speaker should have first been given a three-day ultimatum to allow discussion in the House, including an opportunity for Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi to speak. Speaking to ABP News inside Parliament, senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee said that while the party agrees Rahul Gandhi should be allowed to speak, the process followed by the opposition was flawed. According to TMC, a formal letter should have been written to the Speaker, granting him time to respond before moving such a serious motion. Meanwhile, other opposition parties—including Congress, Samajwadi Party, CPM, and NCP—remain united and are expected to submit the no-confidence motion to the Lok Sabha Secretariat shortly. The proposal will be handed over to the Secretary General of the Lok Sabha, who will verify it before it can be moved in the House. The government maintains that Rahul Gandhi is free to speak, provided he follows parliamentary rules. The political deadlock continues, with repeated disruptions and uncertainty over how the Speaker issue will unfold.
