Discussion on the Union Budget is set to begin today in both Houses of Parliament, even as political tensions remain high and further disruptions are anticipated. The Lok Sabha has remained paralysed for the past four consecutive days due to continuous protests by the Opposition, leading to repeated adjournments and stalled legislative business. During the debate on the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp political attack on the Congress, questioning its historical record and leadership during the tenures of Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. The Prime Minister’s remarks sparked strong reactions from Opposition benches. The Congress hit back, accusing the Prime Minister of diverting attention from real issues and alleging that he was avoiding the truth by resorting to misleading statements. With the Budget debate scheduled to begin, both the government and the Opposition are expected to lock horns over economic priorities, governance issues, and policy decisions.
