Parliament Monsoon Session: Lok Sabha Adjourned Till Monday Amid Opposition Slogans Over Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation

The Lok Sabha was adjourned until Monday after another brief and disrupted sitting amid continued Opposition protests over the paper leak issue. Presiding officer Jagdambika Pal conducted around 13 minutes of proceedings, during which Opposition MPs repeatedly raised slogans demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was present in the House, and Opposition members demanded that he be allowed to speak on the issue. The Chair repeatedly assured members that an opportunity to speak would be provided, but the continuous sloganeering prevented normal proceedings from moving forward. The main slogan raised by the Opposition throughout the session was “resignation,” reflecting their demand for accountability from the government. The government has maintained that it is ready for a discussion on paper leaks and examination reforms but insists that the debate should take place without preconditions. Opposition parties, however, continue to argue that meaningful discussion cannot happen unless Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns first. The deadlock between the government and Opposition has continued to impact parliamentary functioning during the Monsoon Session.
