Odisha News: Massive Fire at SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack, 10 Dead, Several Critical

A major tragedy has been reported from Cuttack in Odisha, where a massive fire broke out at SCB Medical College and Hospital. According to officials, 10 people have died after the blaze engulfed a section of the hospital. The incident occurred around 3:00 AM in the ICU of the Trauma Center, where critically ill patients were being treated. The fire reportedly started with sparks inside the ICU and quickly spread, trapping patients who were already in serious condition. As ICU patients require constant life-support equipment, relocating them during the emergency proved extremely difficult. Officials said several patients were injured, and five patients are in critical condition after suffering severe burns and smoke inhalation. Emergency services, including fire brigade teams, police, and medical staff, rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. Mohan Charan Majhi, the Chief Minister of Odisha, visited the hospital to review the situation. He confirmed that 10 patients lost their lives in the fire and met with the injured victims receiving treatment. The state government has announced compensation of ₹25 lakh for the families of each deceased victim. Senior officials, including the district collector and police authorities, are currently at the hospital overseeing relief efforts. Images from the site show thick smoke and flames rising from the hospital building during the incident. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
