With the NEET re-examination scheduled for June 21 following the paper leak controversy, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has intensified preparations to ensure a secure and transparent examination process. Nationwide mock drills are being conducted across all exam centres, accompanied by enhanced surveillance and strict security protocols. Around 22 lakh students are set to appear for the re-exam. More than 674 coordinators, 6,500 observers, and nearly two lakh personnel have been deployed to oversee the process. Examination centres will remain under CCTV surveillance, while social media platforms are being closely monitored to prevent the spread of misinformation or malpractice. In Mumbai, additional CCTV systems, CISF personnel, and Mumbai Police have been deployed, while in Bihar, 331 examination centres—including 95 in Patna—have been declared high-security zones with full-scale rehearsals of exam procedures. Candidates have been instructed not to carry mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, or earphones. Only admit cards, writing materials, and transparent water bottles are permitted. The Indian Air Force has been roped in to transport question papers securely, and paper setters and translators have been kept in isolation. Authorities have also imposed temporary restrictions on Telegram and launched an official WhatsApp channel to provide verified updates and curb misinformation.
