Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed devotees at the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, describing the moment as extraordinary and deeply spiritual. Speaking amid Vedic chants, the sound of ocean waves, and the presence of thousands of devotees, the Prime Minister said the occasion symbolised India’s faith, heritage, and civilisational strength. He called it his privilege to serve as Chairman of the Somnath Temple Trust during such a historic celebration. PM Modi highlighted the significance of the 72-hour continuous chanting of “Om,” drone shows depicting Somnath’s 1,000-year journey, and the Shaurya Yatra featuring 108 horses. He paid tribute to countless devotees, warriors, and cultural protectors who sacrificed their lives to safeguard Somnath and Sanatan traditions. Emphasising that Somnath’s history is not of defeat but of reconstruction and victory, he recalled repeated attempts to destroy the temple and its eventual revival through collective faith and resilience. The Prime Minister noted that the Swabhiman Parv marks not only 1,000 years of Somnath’s journey but also 75 years of its reconstruction in 1951. He stressed that India’s strength lies in staying rooted in its heritage while progressing towards development. Calling Somnath a symbol of eternal faith and unity, PM Modi said the energy of the temple inspires India’s vision for the next thousand years.
