A horrific accident unfolded in Mumbai’s Bhandup area when a speeding, out-of-control BEST electric bus caused devastation outside Bhandup railway station. The incident occurred late Monday night around 9:30–10:05 pm, a time when commuters were returning home after a long day. Eyewitnesses said the red-colored AC electric bus, operating on route number 606, suddenly went out of control while reversing and taking a U-turn near the crowded bus stand. Within seconds, the bus mounted the divider and ran over people standing on the footpath, crushing at least 13 pedestrians. The impact was so severe that four people, including three women, lost their lives on the spot, while nine to ten others sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals. CCTV footage from a nearby shop captured the horrifying moment, showing people running in panic to save their lives. Police, rescue teams, and ambulances rushed to the scene immediately and cordoned off the area. This tragedy has raised serious questions about safety, maintenance, and driver training, especially as a similar electric bus accident had occurred in Mumbai within the past year. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether technical failure, lack of training, or negligence was responsible for the deadly mishap.
