Monsoon Fury: Flash Floods and Heavy Rains Trigger Chaos Across Several States

Heavy monsoon rains have created difficult conditions across several states, with flash floods, cloudbursts, and waterlogging affecting both hill regions and plains. In Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, sudden flash floods in Nahan trapped several people, who were rescued safely by emergency teams through a challenging operation. In Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, a seasonal stream in Vikas Nagar overflowed after intense rainfall, causing strong currents and debris on roads. A car attempting to cross the flooded stream got stuck but was later rescued. Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian witnessed heavy damage after a cloudburst-triggered flood washed away a bridge. Meanwhile, urban areas such as Surendranagar in Gujarat, Shamli in Uttar Pradesh, and Gurugram faced severe waterlogging, affecting traffic and daily life. Haryana’s Hathnikund Barrage also saw rising water pressure, leading authorities to open gates. Officials have advised residents in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas to remain cautious and avoid rivers and streams as unstable weather conditions continue across several parts of the country.
