Meerut Fire: 6 Killed in Kidwai Nagar Blaze, Probe Underway

A heartbreaking incident occurred late last night in the Kidwai Nagar area of Meerut, where a massive fire claimed the lives of six people, including five minor children. The tragedy has left the entire locality in mourning. Two brothers and their families were living in the same house. Due to Ramadan, both brothers had gone out to offer prayers when a short circuit allegedly triggered the fire. The ground floor rooms were used for embroidery work on suits, and a large stock of garments stored inside caused the flames to spread rapidly. Women and children were trapped in the upper rooms as the fire intensified. Neighbors rushed to help, placing ladders and even breaking a wall from an adjacent house in an attempt to rescue those inside. Despite efforts and hospital treatment, six people, including five children, succumbed to their injuries. Preliminary findings suggest that embroidery machines were operating on a 2 kW electricity connection, while actual consumption exceeded 5 kW. Authorities have ordered a detailed investigation into possible negligence.
