A major political update has emerged from Maharashtra, with reports indicating that Ritu Tawde is set to become the Mayor of Mumbai. If confirmed, she will be the first woman mayor from the BJP in Mumbai’s civic body. It is also being reported that Sanjay Shankar Ghadge, associated with the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), will take charge as the Deputy Mayor. According to political developments, Ritu Tawde is a three-time corporator and has previously held key committee leadership roles within the BMC. She first contested elections from Ghatkopar in 2017 and has continued to maintain a strong political presence. She has also worked closely with BJP’s women’s organizational wings, strengthening her position as a strong mayoral candidate. Reports suggest that her nomination process is expected to be completed soon, and the official mayoral responsibility may be formally handed over in mid-February. The development is being seen as a significant political milestone, especially if BJP secures the mayor’s post independently in the BMC for the first time.
