Jharkhand Political Battle: Jharkhand Rajya Sabha Election Heats Up as 5th Candidate Enters, But INDIA Bloc Reaches Consensus

The political landscape in Jharkhand has intensified ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections, with the entry of a fifth candidate making the contest more competitive and raising concerns over possible cross-voting. BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh has reportedly purchased nomination papers, adding a new twist to the already crowded race. Earlier, names such as Pranav Jha from Congress, Baidyanath Ram from JMM, independent candidate Pawan Nathwani, and others had already entered the fray. Despite the growing number of candidates, reports suggest that a consensus has been reached between the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) for the allocation of the two Rajya Sabha seats under the INDIA alliance. According to sources, this agreement was facilitated after discussions involving senior leaders, including former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who acted as an observer in talks with Chief Minister Hemant Soren. A dinner meeting has been scheduled in Ranchi with all alliance MLAs expected to attend, signaling unity within the coalition. While earlier tensions were reported over candidate selection, the current agreement has eased internal differences. However, the possibility of cross-voting and strategic political maneuvering still keeps the election closely watched.
