In the wake of the Goa nightclub fire that claimed 25 lives, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has directed strict enforcement of safety norms across all tourism-related establishments. He emphasised compulsory police verification for workers, proper licensing, and adherence to operating timings, warning that repeated violations will lead to permanent licence cancellation. Sawant also urged tourists to follow lifeguard instructions, noting that Goa is the only state with full-time beach lifeguards. Meanwhile, a major update has emerged as accused co-owner Ajay Gupta was produced in Saket Court after being arrested from a Delhi hospital where he posed as a spine-injury patient. Goa Police will seek transit remand to bring him back for further investigation.
