A major fire incident was reported from Shahdara in East Delhi late Saturday night, triggering panic in the surrounding area. The blaze broke out at an MCD parking zone located beneath the Shahdara flyover, where several vehicles were parked. According to initial reports, seven to eight cars were completely gutted after being engulfed by the fire. The incident occurred at around 9:00 PM, when flames were first noticed emerging from the parking area. Officials said the fire is suspected to have originated near an MCD dumping or waste storage site, from where it spread rapidly to the parked vehicles. Due to the intensity of the flames, the cars were reduced to ashes within minutes. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as thick smoke and fire rose under the flyover, creating fear among nearby residents and commuters. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after sustained efforts. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far, which authorities say is a relief given the scale of the fire. Police and fire department officials have cordoned off the area, and an investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the fire. Damage assessment is currently underway.
