West Bengal is witnessing intense political activity ahead of the second phase of polling across 142 seats in seven districts. All major parties have launched door-to-door campaigns to seek voter support. Massive security arrangements have been deployed, including more than 2,000 companies of central forces, while drone surveillance is being used to monitor the election process. Heavy police presence and flag marches have been reported in several areas, including Kolkata’s outskirts and East Burdwan. Despite preparations, incidents of violence have been reported ahead of voting, including clashes between TMC and BJP workers in East Burdwan and an attack on a TMC MP’s vehicle in Hooghly. The state election commission has warned of strict action against any law and order violations. Political tensions have further escalated with leaders exchanging sharp allegations, as both BJP and TMC claim electoral victory. The situation remains highly sensitive as voting is scheduled for April 29.
