Delhi Rain Fury: 4–5 Feet Waterlogging, Traffic Chaos & Children Fall Into Open Drain

Heavy rainfall has brought Delhi-NCR to a standstill, with severe waterlogging, traffic jams and flooded roads reported across multiple areas. Sangam Vihar saw 4–5 feet of water, forcing residents to push vehicles through flooded streets, while Badarpur Border, Fatehpur Beri, Sainik Farms, Durga Vihar and Mahipalpur also faced major waterlogging. A worrying incident occurred in Jagatpur, where three children returning from school fell into an open drain hidden beneath the floodwater. Fortunately, nearby residents quickly rescued them. Safdarjung Hospital’s parking area and H Block were also affected by waterlogging. The IMD has issued an Orange Alert, with heavy rain expected to continue until August 10. Several Delhi roads witnessed prolonged traffic congestion, while reports of fallen trees added to the disruption. Rainfall figures were significant, including 96.2 mm at Rajghat, 74.8 mm at Lodhi Road, 74.5 mm at Pusa and 71.4 mm at Palam. NCR cities were also affected, with Noida recording 78 mm, Ghaziabad 66 mm and Faridabad 48 mm of rainfall.
