Delhi fire: Massive Fire Erupts at Delhi Restaurant, Cylinder Blasts Trigger Panic in Kalkaji

A major fire broke out at a restaurant near the Govindpuri Flyover in Delhi’s Kalkaji area, triggering panic after multiple commercial gas cylinders reportedly exploded during the incident. The blaze rapidly spread through the structure, engulfing large portions of the building before firefighters managed to bring the situation under control. According to preliminary information and eyewitness accounts, the fire started in the restaurant premises during the afternoon. Witnesses claimed that sparks from a working tandoor may have ignited nearby temporary covering materials, causing flames to spread quickly. As the fire intensified, at least three commercial cylinders reportedly exploded, further fueling the blaze and creating a dangerous situation for nearby residents and businesses. The Delhi Fire Service rushed several fire tenders to the scene after receiving information about the incident. Firefighters carried out an extensive operation and eventually succeeded in containing the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to surrounding buildings. A significant rescue effort was also undertaken during the emergency. According to local accounts, several people trapped inside or near the affected building were evacuated safely, including an elderly woman who was rescued in time. Fortunately, no casualties or serious injuries have been reported so far. Visuals from the scene showed thick smoke billowing into the sky and flames engulfing the upper portions of the structure. The explosions and fire caused panic in the neighborhood, drawing a large crowd of onlookers as emergency teams worked to secure the area. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Police and fire officials are examining whether safety lapses, improper storage of cylinders, or other factors contributed to the incident. The extent of property damage is also being assessed. The incident has once again highlighted the importance of fire safety measures in commercial establishments, particularly those handling cooking equipment and gas cylinders.
