Post-election unrest continues to escalate in West Bengal, with fresh violence reported from Kolkata. Late at night, chaos broke out in the well-known Hogg Market area, where a group of individuals allegedly arrived with bulldozers and carried out large-scale vandalism. According to allegations by the All India Trinamool Congress, supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party targeted a party office and nearby shops, demolishing structures and triggering panic among locals. The incident reportedly took place around 9 PM and continued for a significant period, with slogans raised and tensions flaring in the crowded marketplace. Visuals from the scene show bulldozers damaging property, including what is claimed to be a TMC union office. Several nearby shops also suffered losses during the destruction. The situation quickly turned volatile, adding to the growing concerns over post-poll violence across the state. Prominent local leader Firhad Hakim’s area falls close to the site, raising serious questions about law and order in sensitive zones. However, an official statement from the Kolkata Police is still awaited. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India has taken note of the rising incidents of violence and issued strict directives to state authorities, including the Chief Secretary and DGP, to restore order and prevent further escalation. The developments highlight intensifying political tensions in West Bengal, as authorities face mounting pressure to control the situation and ensure public safety.
