BREAKING: Stampede at Nalanda Sheetla Temple Claims Six Lives, Many Injured

A tragic stampede unfolded at the Magadha Sheetla Temple in Deepnagar, Nalanda, Bihar, on Tuesday, resulting in the death of six devotees and leaving several others injured. The incident occurred during a routine Tuesday gathering when an uncontrollable surge of worshippers, primarily women, created panic inside the crowded temple premises. Initial reports had confirmed two deaths, but the toll has since risen to six as rescue teams continue to assess the situation. Many of the injured have been admitted to Sadar Hospital, where medical teams are closely monitoring their condition. The temple complex has been fully evacuated to prevent further casualties, while police and emergency personnel work tirelessly to restore order. Eyewitnesses and local residents have voiced concerns over the lack of adequate crowd management, suggesting that negligence by the district administration contributed to the tragedy. The administration, reportedly preoccupied with security arrangements for a presidential visit in the region, left the temple without sufficient oversight. Devotees and local residents have expressed anger and frustration, highlighting that similar gatherings, especially on Tuesdays and during Sheetla Ashtami, require strict safety measures. Authorities have assured that an investigation will be conducted to identify lapses and implement stricter crowd-control protocols in the future. This unfortunate incident underscores the urgent need for improved public safety measures during high-footfall religious events and has sparked renewed calls for accountability and planning in managing large-scale gatherings in Bihar.
