Breaking News: UP Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak Calls Touching Brahmin Shikha a Crime

Politics in Uttar Pradesh has heated up over the alleged insult to the Brahmin community in Prayagraj. On January 18, during Mauni Amavasya, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand was reportedly prevented from performing the Sangam bath, and young Brahmin students (Batuks) were taken into custody and allegedly assaulted. Following the incident, UP Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak issued a strong statement, saying that touching a Brahmin’s shikha (topknot) is a crime and that police personnel involved in this “sinful act” will face strict action.Batuks and their mentors visited Deputy CM Pathak’s residence to express gratitude for his support. Speaking to ABP News, Shyam Mishra, a mentor accompanying the Batuks, said the visit was to honor Pathak’s respect for Brahmins and their cultural heritage, particularly the shikha, a symbol of their identity and faith. Pathak confirmed that the culprits are being identified and appropriate action will be taken against them. The incident has sparked significant community attention, with local Brahmins lauding the Deputy CM for his timely support.
