Breaking News: Shocking Attack in Haridwar: Accountability Questions Raised on Uttarakhand Police

A shocking incident in Haridwar has raised serious questions about police functioning and administrative accountability in Uttarakhand. During the attack, two police officers, including a sub-inspector and a constable, were suspended as a magistrate-led investigation begins. The incident involved criminals openly firing and injuring a detainee, Vinay Tyagi, despite the presence of armed police personnel. Eyewitnesses and footage from the scene show how the offenders carried out the attack freely, highlighting potential lapses in surveillance, preparedness, and operational response. Uttarakhand Police, known for professionalism, now face scrutiny over why officers did not fire back, allowing criminals to escape and even record videos post-incident. Questions are also being raised about how the attackers gained such precise information and how the court transport of the detainee was managed. Senior officials, including the SSP and District Magistrate, have been briefed, and the investigation aims to determine accountability and procedural lapses. The incident has sparked public debate on law enforcement efficiency and the safety of detainees in police custody.
