Breaking News: PM Modi addresses NDA MPs on historic trade deals

The Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by NDA MPs during a parliamentary party meeting, where he highlighted the significance of India’s recent trade deals. Over the past week, India has signed agreements with 39 countries, including the US, European Union, and New Zealand. The PM emphasized that these deals, along with the recently presented budget, will benefit major sectors such as textiles and manufacturing, and support India’s long-term development goals. He urged MPs to engage with the public and explain how these agreements and the budget will positively impact citizens. Opposition parties, including Congress and Samajwadi Party, protested in Lok Sabha, demanding clarity on the US-India trade deal. Concerns include claims made by former US President Donald Trump about India reducing oil imports from Russia and increasing them from Venezuela. While 18% tariffs have been agreed upon (down from 50%), discussions on sector-specific provisions and potential zero-tariff arrangements are ongoing. Officials stressed that the full bilateral trade agreement details are yet to be finalized, and public clarification will follow once official documents are released.
