A massive avalanche struck the Sonamarg region of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, creating panic among locals and tourists. CCTV footage captured the dramatic moment when a powerful wave of snow descended from the mountains, engulfing nearby structures and causing significant damage to several hotels located downhill. The sudden snowstorm-like avalanche forced people to flee the area to save their lives. Despite the intensity of the avalanche, authorities confirmed that no loss of life or injuries has been reported so far, bringing a major sense of relief. Officials stated that the administration had already taken precautionary measures and restricted vehicle movement in the area days earlier due to avalanche warnings. The incident occurred on the opposite side of the New Truck Yard, a zone known for recurring avalanches every year. Rescue teams and local administration remain on high alert as fear continues to linger among residents, though the situation is currently under control.
