BREAKING: NEET UG 2026 Exam Cancelled After Alleged Paper Leak Investigation

In a major development affecting millions of medical aspirants across the country, the NEET UG 2026 examination has reportedly been cancelled following allegations of a paper leak. The decision has been taken by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after preliminary investigations indicated irregularities in the conduct of the examination held on May 3. According to sources, the controversy escalated after the Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG) submitted a detailed report highlighting strong evidence suggesting a paper leak. The findings were then forwarded to the NTA, which subsequently referred the matter to its expert committee for further evaluation. Based on the committee’s recommendations, the examination was declared invalid and cancelled. The development has left lakhs of students in uncertainty, as NEET is one of the most competitive entrance examinations for medical education in India. The cancellation is expected to trigger a nationwide reaction from students, parents, and coaching institutions who have already invested significant time and resources in preparation. Officials investigating the case have reportedly intensified their scrutiny, with teams continuing to examine the source and extent of the alleged leak. Security measures have also been tightened at key investigation points, including offices of law enforcement agencies handling the probe. This incident has once again raised serious concerns over the integrity and security of national-level entrance examinations in India. Over the past few years, examination transparency has become a recurring issue, prompting calls for stronger safeguards and technological reforms. While authorities have not yet announced the schedule for a re-examination, it is expected that the NTA will release an official clarification soon regarding the next steps for affected candidates. The situation continues to evolve as students await further announcements on how the academic calendar will be adjusted following the cancellation.
