BREAKING: NEET UG 2026 Cancelled After Paper Leak, CBI Probe Ordered

In a major national development, the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3 has been officially cancelled following confirmation of a suspected paper leak. The decision, taken by the National Testing Agency (NTA), comes after detailed inputs from investigative agencies pointed towards a large-scale organised malpractice network allegedly involved in compromising the exam paper. According to investigation updates, the Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG) submitted a report indicating strong evidence of a coordinated paper leak operation. The report suggested that the alleged irregularities were not coincidental but part of a planned conspiracy involving multiple regions. Preliminary findings reportedly traced connections from Rajasthan to other states, raising serious concerns over the integrity of one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations. Following the report, the matter was escalated to the NTA, which referred it to its expert committee. Based on the committee’s recommendations, the examination has now been declared invalid. Alongside the cancellation, the government has also ordered a CBI investigation to ensure a deeper probe into the alleged irregularities and identify those responsible for the breach. The cancellation has left lakhs of medical aspirants and their families in distress, as NEET is the primary gateway for admission into medical colleges across the country. Students who had prepared for years are now facing uncertainty regarding fresh examination dates, which are yet to be officially announced. Officials involved in the probe have stated that the investigation is ongoing and further details will be released after a comprehensive review of evidence. Authorities are also expected to strengthen exam security mechanisms to prevent such incidents in the future. This marks one of the most significant disruptions in India’s medical entrance examination system in recent years, reigniting concerns over exam security, digital safeguards, and systemic reforms required to restore student confidence.
