Breaking: Mumbai Goregaon Society Row Over Cattle Sacrifice Setup Sparks Political Protest

A fresh controversy has erupted in Mumbai’s Goregaon area after a dispute broke out over the alleged arrangement for cattle keeping and sacrificial practices within a residential society premises. The issue has triggered tensions between local residents, civic authorities, and political representatives, bringing the matter under public and administrative scrutiny. According to local reports, a temporary shed has been set up inside the Marigold Society complex, where approximately 15 to 18 cattle have been kept. Residents claim that the structure and the activity planned in the area are causing serious concern, especially due to the dense residential surroundings. The society is reportedly located near schools, including two educational institutions, as well as religious centers, which has further intensified objections from residents. Those opposing the arrangement argue that such activities should not be permitted in residential zones and raise concerns about hygiene, safety, and adherence to civic regulations. Residents have also questioned whether the permissions granted by the municipal authorities are appropriate for a populated housing complex. On the other hand, individuals associated with the setup claim that they have obtained official permission from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to keep cattle and carry out the required arrangements. This claim has become a central point of dispute, as residents and local representatives demand clarity on the approval process. The controversy escalated after a local political representative from the Bharatiya Janata Party raised objections and submitted a formal complaint to the ward office, seeking cancellation of the permission. The demand has added a political dimension to the issue, with calls for immediate administrative review. As tensions continue, civic authorities are expected to investigate the matter and verify whether proper guidelines were followed in granting permission. The situation remains sensitive, with both sides holding firm to their positions, and officials working to prevent further escalation.
